Europa League thread
Draw is apparently in Istanbul at 12 o'clock on Friday 27th August.

Finding that out has got me just a little excited! So many potentially magical trips - who do you want? Presumably Slavia Prague is right up there.

Group H

Dinamo Zagreb
Genk
West Ham
Rapid Vienna

This should be exciting. Sadly the lack of players in means it's likely to be a short lived european adventure.

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
We have the same squad that got us within 3 points of the CL last season (with an upgraded GK).

No reason why we can’t have a go.

Minus Lingard and Balbuena

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
Lingard wants to come back: https://youtu.be/DoiTl01ITkA

Balbuena was a good backup but we’re on the verge of signing Milenkovic, making Diop and Dawson superior backups.

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
No Lingard (won us a fair few points with his winning goals)
No Haller (he scored 7 and got us 4 points from 2 of those goals)
No Balbuena.

Not the same squad is it...........

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
We're in Pot 2 or Pot 3. So far these are deffo Pot 1:
Lyon
Napoli
Bayer Leverkusen
Lazio

Any of those will do for a starter!

First group game = 16th September. We're at home to Man Utd the following Sunday.

Second group game = 30th September. We're at home to Brentford the following Sunday.

At least we're at home for both.

We were doing well before Lingard came in.
Haller was fucking useless.
Balbuena was 4th choice CB.

We have a better goalkeeper going into this season so as far as I’m concerned, we have a better squad.

Sadly the lack of players in means it's likely to be a short lived European adventure.

As the last Europa League group games, aren't until the second week of December, it won't be short lived. To say nothing of finishing 3rd in the group and dropping into the Europa Conference.

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
Even if we finish third in the table we go into the Conference league, so unless we finish the table bottom we should have European football until February next season.

So Vexed reckons we’re gonna finish bottom of the group?

What a clown.

That doesn't fucking matter the fact is 10+ points we accumulated came directly from winning goals from BOTH those players we don't have in our squad anymore......which guess what?......doesn't make us a better squad.....

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
Very simplistic way of looking at it, Side.

I look more at players statistics rather than simply goals. Goals only tell half the story.

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
I think it would be tough with some decent investment, given our recent efforts in Europe, but with the lack of it, it could be embarrassing.

Side of Ham 10:36 Thu Aug 12
Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
Goals are what get you the points though and considering BOTH those players scored goals that got us 10+ points this means you wouldn't be discussing Europa League.........your stats can't change that.

Re: Is it too soon for an official Europa League thread?
Either way Mercenary there are at least 10+ points gained from Lingard & Haller's goals even if it were a draw or we conceded....probably more... which last season means we wouldn't be in the Europa League.

Silly boy thinks we now have a better squad without them......even a shit Haller covering for an injured Antonio contributed enough to make our season a good one.
